Nigeria midfielder Wilfred Ndidi scored his second English Premier
League goal as Leicester cruised to a 3-0 victory over Watford at the
King Power Stadium on Saturday.
The English champions succeeded in guaranteeing their Premier League
survival with a deserved home victory over struggling Watford, as they
stay on 9th with 43 points.
It was Ndidi who blasted in from 10 yards out to put the home team ahead
in the 38th minute. His goal came after the opponents failed to clear
Danny Drinkwater’s cross following a short corner.
Reigning African Player of the Year, Riyad Mahrez, then doubled the lead
as he pounced on a mistake from Adrian Mariappa about 13 minutes into
the second half.
Marc Albrighton added the third goal in injury time to ensure Leicester have a place in the top-flight next season.
Watford, who suffered their third successive defeat, dropped to 15th in
the Premier League, eight points above the relegation zone with three
games remaining.
“I’m pleased with the result, the performance wasn’t quite there but
ultimately it is about the result and it is another clean sheet,”
Leicester coach Craig Shakespeare said after the victory
